Purpose

An-74-300 was created purposely to meet requirements, first of all the revenue service operators' needs in fuel efficiency, safety and comfort. The exceptional design potential enabled engineers to create a number of modifications, including:

  • Passenger aircraft;
  • Business jet;
  • Transport aircraft;
  • Transport convertible aircraft;
  • Intensive therapy station.

    Versions

    Extreme operating flexibility is one of the key features of the An-74-300.
    With the wide cargo cabin and set of additional equipment coming from the 200 series derivative, this aircraft can be effectively used for cargo and convertible cargo transportation, as well as for a range of special missions. At the same time fuel efficiency and high performance ensures its natural expansion into civil utilizations including passenger regional and short haul revenue service and executive transportation.
    Passenger transport / up to 52 passengers
    With the passenger cabin configuration with four-abreast seats (chairs), the passenger An-74-300 can carry up to 52 passengers on regional and short-haul routes.
    Large inside section allowed creating spacious comfort cabin found only in larger long-haul wide body jets.

    Business jet

    Elegant cabin interior of every new An-74-300 business jet is developed taking into account customers' individual requirements. Each interior combines aesthetic view and functionality and provides for maximum comfort for work and relaxation during the flight.
    Spacious inner area enables dividing the cabin of the An-74-300 aircraft into several independent rooms, which can accommodate the room for VIP-passenger, meeting room or room for accompanying persons. Natural high-quality finishing materials used in design emphasize the style and individuality of the VIP-cabin.

    Transport aircraft

    The transport variant of the An-74-300 is designed to meet the modern freight transport requirements. The aircraft is equipped with the same set of loading and unloading equipment as installed at 200 series derivative.
    Convertible cargo-passenger aircraft
    The aircraft is adapted to transport up to 52 passengers, carry up to 10 tons of cargo or be used for mixed cargo-passenger transportations.
    - 12 passengers and 6000 kg cargo
    - 20 passengers and 4500 kg cargo

    Design and equipment

    The most of the An-74-300 systems including deicing, fire-protection and hydraulic systems, landing gear, emergency equipment replicate the base variant, as well as airframe. The most distinctive feature of this version is the new type of engine installation on pylons under wing improving aerodynamic perfection of the aircraft. Besides, from the early design stages an effort to incorporate functionality and cabin comfort in the passenger layouts was taken.
    The powerplant has undergone some changes and now consists of two D-36 Series 4A turbofan engines with a modified thrust reverser system.
    The reinforced landing gear inherited from 200 series version allowed the An-74-300 to retain the unprepared runways performance with minimum pavement density 8 kg/cm2.

    Powerplant

    The powerplant of the An-74-300 consists of two turbofan engines D-36 series 4A mounted on the pylons under wing. The D-36 series 4A is an upgraded version of the proven D-36 engine family powering all of the An-74 derivatives. The 4A series features a new thrust reverser system.
    The main advantages of the engine, such as low specific fuel burn, high power, reliability and durability have been proven in the hardest operational conditions.
    The auxiliary power unit TA-12 makes the aircraft completely independent from ground support.
    The auxiliary power unit secures:

  • Engine start capability on the ground up to 3600 m and in-flight up to 6000 m;
  • Air conditioning system supply with pressurized air on ground up to 3600 m;
  • Aircraft electrical system supply with ac power on ground up to 3600 m and in-flight (the main power supply down) (failure of the main power supply) up to 6000 m
